Directors

Robert A. (Bob) Fairweather
Mr. Fairweather is a former Canadian diplomat and retired investment banker.  Spanning 18 years, Mr. Fairweather served in senior diplomatic capacities in several countries, including Japan and South Korea.  Mr. Fairweather has served as Director of Investment Banking with Richardson Greenshields of Canada, BC representative of Corporate Planning Associates, President of British Columbia’s International Financial Centre, Director and Interim Chair of BC Hydro Corporation, and President of the Canada Korea Business Association.  He is currently a Director of Computershare Trust and UBS Bank (Canada). 
 
Mr. Fairweather graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa.
 
Mr. Fairweather joined the Board of Directors on February 23, 2012.


Harry Jaako
Mr. Jaako is the President and a Director and Principal of Discovery Capital Management Corp. (DCMC) and is also President and a Director of British Columbia Discovery Fund (VCC) Inc., a British Columbia venture capital fund managed by DCMC.  He has held these director and officer positions for more than five years, during which time and prior thereto he was also the Chairman, Co-Chief Executive Officer and a Principal of Discovery Capital Corporation (a publicly-traded venture capital company), the former parent company of DCMC.  He has over twenty years experience in advising early-stage technology companies, in managing technology sector investment funds, in sourcing, analyzing and closing venture capital investment opportunities and in structuring corporate finance transactions.  Mr. Jaako is currently on the board of directors of several venture investment companies and has been a director of the TMX Group, or its predecessors, since 2001.
 
Mr. Jaako holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Lakehead University.
 
Mr. Jaako joined the Board of Directors on June 1, 2005.


Philip Heller
Mr. Philip Heller, a resident of Toronto, is the President and CEO of McKenn Management Corp., a company specializing in property development, and is an active partner in one of Canada’s largest, privately-owned residential rental portfolios.  As well, Mr. Heller is a member of a prominent group of angel investors, providing venture capital investment and guidance to emerging companies.

Mr. Heller joined the Board of Directors on February 28, 2007.


Richard W. Hopp
Mr. Hopp is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Run of River Power Inc.  He has over 30 years of experience in the energy marketing and power development sectors. Prior to joining the management team at Run of River Power Inc. Mr. Hopp was Vice President, Business Development of Elemental Energy Inc.  Mr. Hopp is a technical advisor to Clean Energy BC.

Mr. Hopp has a BSc in Applied Economics from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria, British Columbia.

Mr. Hopp joined the Board of Directors on June 14, 2011.

  


Dennis R. Morin
Mr. Morin has over 35 years of experience in the field of mechanical engineering, manufacturing and manufacturing automation.  In 1986, he founded Wonderware Software Development Company, which under his leadership over a period of nine years became the world’s leading supplier of man-machine interface software in the factory automation business.  He also served as Chairman of IndX Corporation and successfully led a corporate turnaround.  Mr. Morin’s honours have included Southern California’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 1994 and the Software Council of Southern California named him CEO of the Year in 1995.
 
Mr. Morin joined the Board on February 16, 2004. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company on March 1, 2005.  Effective March 1, 2006 Mr. Morin resigned as President but remained as Chief Executive Officer.  On November 29, 2007, he resigned as Chief Executive Office, but remains a Director of the Company.


Gordon D. Skene
Mr. Skene has a broad range of experience in the management, strategic direction, and financing of emerging companies in the technology sector.  He has served as a director of many technology companies and currently serves on the board of Progressive Solutions Inc., and on the board of the Western Universities Technology Innovation Fund.  He was the founder of FutureFund Capital (VCC) Corp., a diversified venture capital fund with investments in over twenty British Columbia-based technology companies and was its President and Chief Executive Officer from April 1994 to May 2003.  In July 2003, Mr. Skene was engaged as a consultant to the Company through GDS Financial Partners Inc., and was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in September, 2004.  He served as a director of the Company from October, 2003 to June, 2005, and became an employee of the Company in January, 2005.  Mr. Skene was appointed President on March 1, 2007, and was reappointed as a Director on June 10, 2008.
 
Mr. Skene's professional background includes positions as: Director of Corporate Finance of MacMillan Bloedel Limited (forest products), President of Norsat International Inc. (satellite communications), and President of SOLUS Technology Corp. (distributed control systems).
 
Mr. Skene holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics and Economics) and a Master of Science in Business Administration (Finance and Transportation).


Leonard B. Williams
Mr. Williams is the President, CEO, and founder of Progressive Solutions Inc., a British Columbia based company with over 140 employees that supplies software solutions to the wood products and building materials industries.  Progressive Solutions was named as one of BC’s Top 21 Best Exporters, and over the past four years as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
 
Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration.
 
Mr. Williams joined the Board of Directors on June 15, 2004.
